Materials needed for the Crochet Sunflower Bookmark
- 3-ply Monaco Mercerized Cotton Yarn in Yellow, Black, and Green.
- 1.6 mm crochet hook
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- fiberfill stuffing
- stitch marker (optional)
Abbreviations
- sc – single crochet
- inc sc – increase single crochet
- dec sc – decrease single crochet
- blo sc – back loop only single crochet
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- st – stitch
- spc – space
- dc – double crochet
- hdc – half double crochet
Special Stitch
Picot Stitch
To make a picot st, ch3, then sl st at the back loop of the first ch.
Pattern Notes
- This pattern, written in US terms, is for an advanced beginner.
- The number of stitches in every row is indicated after the equal sign =.
- Repeat the pattern inside the parentheses ( ) as many times as indicated after the asterisk *.
- The flower center is made in continuous rows, you can use a stitch marker to mark the first st of a row.
Crochet Sunflower Bookmark Pattern
Flower Center
Black yarn
R1: 6sc in a magic ring = 6
R2: (inc sc) * 6 = 12
R3: (sc, inc sc) * 6 = 18
R4: sc all around = 18
R5: blo sc all around = 18
R6: (sc, dec sc) * 6 = 12
R7: (dec sc) * 6 = 6
Insert fiberfill stuffing and sew to close.
Flower Petals
Attach the yellow yarn.
R1: sc all around the back loops of R5 = 18
R2: (ch3 and sl st in one st, ch1, sl st) * 9 = 9 ch3 loops
R3: (in the ch3 spc, 3dc, picot st, 3dc, sl st in the ch1 spc) * 9 = 9 petals.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave ends.
Stem and Leaf
Attach the green yarn
Ch 80, sl st, sc, sc, dc, dc, hdc, sc, ch 2 turning to the other side of the leaf,
Sc, hdc, dc, hdc, dc, sl st.
Fasten off, cut the yarn, and weave ends.
