Materials for Crochet Sunflower Coaster Pattern
- 5-ply milk cotton yarn or any DK weight yarn in golden yellow and in brown
- 3.5 mm crochet hook
- Needle
- Scissors
Abbreviations
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
dc inc – double crochet increase
sc – single crochets
sl st – slip stitch
Notes
- The ch1 or ch2 at the beginning of each row doesn’t count as st.
- The number inside [ ] is the total number of st in a row.
- Repeat ( ) as many times as indicated after the asterisk *.
- Sl st to end every row.
- To make a picot, ch 3, sl st at the back of the 1st ch.
- Weave ends as you crochet along.
- The finished coaster measures 6 inches in diameter.
Crochet Sunflower Coaster Pattern
R1: Using the brown yarn, make a magic ring and ch 2. Make 13 dc. [13]
R2: Ch 2, dc inc in each st. [26]
R3: Ch 2, (dc, dc inc) * 13. [39]
R4: Ch 2, (dc, dc inc, dc) * 13. [52]
R5: Change yarn to golden yellow. Make a sl st in each st. [52]
R6: Ch 1. Insert hook in the back loop of sl st through the two loops of the sc and back yellow loop behind it.
Sc in the first 4 st, (ch 5, sc in the same st, sc in the next 4 st) * 12, ch 5, sc in the same st. [65 st, 65 ch]
R7: Sl st in the first st, (5 dc in the ch 5 space, picot top of the 5th dc, 5dc on the same ch 5 space, skip 1 st, sl st) * 13. [65 dc, 13 picots, 13 sl st]. Cut the yarn and weave the ends.
